“我女儿很乖，如果不是地震，我外孙应该一岁半了。”黄长蓉忆述时眼里含着泪水，掩饰不住失去女儿和外孙的悲伤。
“幸运的是，生王莉23年后，我又生了一个儿子。”黄长蓉一边给儿子喂奶一边说，“我期望儿子能代替女儿在我心中的地位，虽然这并不可能。”
在汶川地震灾区，像黄长蓉这样的特殊高龄产妇还不少。
来自四川人口部门的资料显示，在地震灾区，已有超过2000位失去孩子或子女伤残的母亲怀孕生子，她们的怀孕年龄大部分在35岁至45岁。
免费推广再育工程
地震中死亡1万多人的绵竹市，是最早实行“再生育全程服务项目”的地区，由政府拨出上亿元专项资金，对失去孩子并有再生育愿望的妇女实行孕前、孕期、分娩等全程免费服务，并发放叶酸片、福施福营养素和装有心理疏导、孕期保健、育儿知识的生育关怀资料袋。
绵竹市人口和计划生育局局长王梅是“再生育全程服务项目”的创立者。她说，这一做法得到了中央政府的肯定，并在地震灾区得到推广。
截至目前，绵竹市在地震中失去孩子或子女伤残并有再生育愿望的896位妇女中，已有489位生下孩子，还有109人怀孕。
王梅说：“子女的离去、伤残，使他们陷入悲痛，不能自拔。为了帮助这些父母尽快走出阴影，有信心重建家园，我们倡议发起这个项目。”
“为了让这些高龄产妇生育健康宝宝，我们聘请了全国著名的生殖医学专家、四川华西第二医院的李尚为教授作为项目总顾问。李教授到各乡镇开展生殖生育健康讲座，为再生育母亲进行义诊。”
所有婴儿身体健康
在土门镇民乐村，35岁的瞿明香在地震中失去了12岁的女儿宋雪。地震发生时，原本已在屋外的宋雪冲进摇晃的室内，唤醒还在午休的同学逃生，自己却不幸遇难。
瞿明香展示着一箱子奖状、生日贺卡、玩具，说：“我保存着宋雪所有的物品，我现在怀孕7个月了，不管生下的是儿子还是女儿，名字还叫宋雪。等他(她)长大了，我要把她姐姐的英雄行为告诉他(她)。”
瞿现在是一位坚强的母亲，地震后忍着失去女儿的悲痛加入自愿者行列，外表平静的她看着女儿的遗物，没有流泪。
王梅说，在“再生育全程服务项目”帮助下，所有已经出生的婴儿现在身体都健康。
“曾经有一位叫廖昌会的母亲早产了一个3.1斤的女婴，现在已经10多斤了。”王梅说。
王梅自己有一个女儿，正在中国人民大学读研究生。
